App offers tours of public art around state
LANSING (AP) - The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs is offering an app featuring tours of public art around Michigan.
The "MI Amazing Art Tour" app is free to download via iTunes. Users can search categories of art, including murals, sculpture and architecture.
The app will lead them through a tour of those pieces, some within a small radius and others spanning the entire state.
Other features of the mobile app include the ability to bookmark and "like" tours on Facebook.
The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs partnered with curators across the state to compile the tours, which include "Public Art in Jackson," ''Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright" and "Treetown Murals." Organizers plan to keep adding more tours.
