Patriot Week Resolutions approved by governments
Joining the State House's action from early this month, last week the State Senate designated September 11-17, as Michigan Patriot Week. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley also designated Patriot Week in their respective states. Likewise, the County Commissioners of Oakland and Macomb Counties also recently proclaimed the week. Patriot Week was co-created by Oakland County Circuit Judge Michael Warren and his now 15-year-old daughter Leah.
"We really appreciate the breadth of leadership," said Leah Warren. "Patriot Week excites students and citizens in general to learn about and celebrate what makes America the greatest nation in world history."
"All Americans need to take time to remember what keeps us free, and Patriot Week is vital to renewing the American spirit," remarked Judge Warren. "If we are to maintain our liberty in a free republic, our citizens must have a deeply rooted understanding of our Constitution, its generating history, and its underlying First Principles. Approval of these resolutions is an important step in maintaining our free republic."
Patriot Week renews America's spirit by celebrating the First Principles, Founding Fathers and other Patriots, vital documents and speeches, and flags that make America the greatest nation in world history. Patriot Week is anchored by the key dates of September 11 (the anniversary of the terrorist attacks) and September 17 (Constitution Day, the anniversary of when the United States Constitution was signed).
Patriot Week is celebrated in Michigan and across the country in K-12 schools, colleges, law schools, libraries, community organizations, government agencies, and others. Public events, lesson plans, and additional information can be found at PatriotWeek.org.
