New proposed water deal focus of town hall meeting, Sept. 30

Oakland County Commissioners Nancy Quarles and Janet Jackson will host a special informational town hall meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. at the Southfield City Council Chambers located at 26000 Evergreen Road in Southfield. Speakers will include Oakland County Chief Deputy County Executive Gerald Poisson, and Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash who will discuss the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, the creation of the new Great Lakes Water Authority and what the deal means for Oakland County residents. Residents will have an opportunity to ask questions to get a clear understanding about the proposed deal and voice concerns. The public is encouraged to come ready to participate as this will be an interactive session with county leadership. Commissioner Nancy Quarles represents the cities of Lathrup Village, Oak Park and Southfield in District #17.
