On Wednesday, Oct. 8, the Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence (OCCCADV) conducted its annual Oakland County Domestic Violence Prevention Awards Ceremony in the Oakland County Commissioners Auditorium in Pontiac.
The OCCCADV honored six community members who have demonstrated exemplary service to victims of domestic violence. T
he Domestic Violence Prevention Award recipients were: Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor Lisa Harris (second from right); Regina Goshorn (third from right), volunteer attorney with Common Ground; Sgt. Jen Miles, from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office; and Brian Dawson (third from left), social worker with Huron Valley Schools. The Domestic Violence Hero Award recipients were: Sue Lancaster, City of Troy assistant attorney; and Lowe Campbell Ewald, a marketing and communications agency.
On hand to congratulate the honorees were (left to right) Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Nanci Grant, Megan Widman, Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper, Tricia Dare, and Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Gorcyca.
“Their efforts increase the safety of victims and raise awareness about domestic violence in our community,” Gorcyca said of the honorees. Gorcyca is also chair of the OCCCADV.
