Legislator honored

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, former Oakland County Legislator Mel Larsen (center) was honored for his work in the advancement of civil rights the co-author of the landmark legislation the Elliott-Larsen Act. 

He was presented with a proclamation from Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub (left) and Board Chairman Michael J. Gingell (right) during the board meeting in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Auditorium in Pontiac. 

Larsen made it illegal to discriminate again people based on race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight or familial or marital status.
