Oakland Health Division receives outstanding marks from Michigan

Oakland County Health Division met or exceeded all 124 essential requirements in an intensive State of Michigan accreditation review receiving special recognition in every section for best practices and innovative initiatives, County Executive L. Brooks Patterson announced Monday.
"This outstanding accreditation report reflects the excellence and professionalism of Health Division administration and employees," Patterson said. "It is yet another example of why Oakland County is among the best managed counties in the nation."
The accreditation review ensures Oakland County meets program mandates required by the Michigan Department of Community Health, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. It includes programs such as vision and hearing screenings, vaccinations, communicable disease control, sexually transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, food service, and on-site sewage treatment management, among others.
During the review, a team of evaluators from various state departments inspected files; assessed paper and electronic records; interviewed Health Division supervisors, chiefs and administrators; and evaluated Health Division staff in the field.
"Our Health Division employees work every day to ensure that our residents receive the best service in public health," said Kathy Forzley, Health Division manager/health officer.
