Governor Rick Snyder has issued a proclamation declaring Friday, May 1, Paralegal and Legal Assistant Day in Michigan to recognize the remarkable contributions paralegals and legal assistants have made in the justice system of the state. Former Governor John Engler first established Paralegal and Legal Assistant Day in 2000.
The State Bar of Michigan Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section will celebrate Paralegal and Legal Assistant Day during its Cheers, Chow & Know-How educational and networking event, at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, at Harringtons By the Bay, located at 13890 South West Bayshore Drive in Traverse City. This event will feature lunch and a presentation about estate planning and cottage law.

The Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section, an affiliate section of the State Bar of Michigan, was established in 1990. Comprised of approximately 450 practicing paralegals and legal assistants, it provides education and news to its members on a regular basis through the Michigan Paralegal Newsletter and monthly Newsblast.
