GRAND HAVEN (AP) - A case of election fraud has the attention of the Michigan Supreme Court.
The court wants to hear more about a dispute between prosecutors and a man who admits he forged signatures on petitions to try to get a judicial candidate on the 2012 ballot in Ottawa County.
The state appeals court said misdemeanor charges seem appropriate against Brandon Hall because that's the warning that appears on petitions. But prosecutors also want to charge him with forgery, a felony, for the same behavior.
The appeals court said Hall wasn't on notice that his conduct was a felony.
In an order released Saturday, the Supreme Court says it will hear arguments. It could decide to take a full appeal or some other action.
