Michigan Judges Association Accepting Nominations for Hilda Gage Judicial Excellence Award
The Michigan Judges Association (“MJA”) announces that it is accepting nominations for its Hilda Gage Judicial Excellence Award. In 2010, MJA created the Hilda Gage Award to recognize judicial excellence, in honor of the late Judge Hilda Gage who served on the Court of Appeals and Oakland Circuit Bench before passing away in 2010.
She was renowned for her courage and scholarship. Judge Gage was the first female President of MJA and the first woman to chair the Judicial Tenure Commission.
MJA seeks judges who have followed in Judge Gage’s footsteps by “serving their state and their communities with integrity, skill, and courage every day.” The Award recognizes current or former Circuit or Court of Appeals Judges who have demonstrated exemplary service.
Past recipients include: Hon. J. Richardson Johnson (2010); Hon. James Ryan 2011; Hon. James Kingsley 2012; Hon. Barry Howard 2013; and Hon. Joan Young 2014.
The deadline is July 15. For a nomination form, contact Sarah Wenzlick, Law Clerk to the Hon. Pamela L. Lightvoet, at srwenz@kalcounty.com, or visit the MJA website, http://mijudge.org/judicial-excellence-award-nominations/
