What is your most treasured material possession? My wedding ring.

What advice do you have for someone considering law school? Don't go just because you don't know what else to do with your life.

Favorite websites: The State Bar's e-Journal, Wikipedia.org, Rivals.com.

What is your happiest childhood memory? A fourth grade birthday with all of my friends at the Tigers game.

Why did you become a lawyer? Ultimately, to advocate for others and compete against myself. But the origin of my desire to be a lawyer is that after watching the Godfather movies as a 10-year-old and wanting nothing more than to someday be in the mafia, my mom tried to discourage me by saying that I couldn't be in the mafia because I wasn't Italian. I responded that the German-Irish-born lawyer Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall) wasn't Italian and thus preserved hope that I could someday be Consigliere. Still working on that one, though.

What would surprise people about your job? It's usually a lot of fun.

What do you wish someone would invent? A less distracting replacement for my cell phone and laptop.

How did you earn your first dollar? Either babysitting, delivering pizzas, or making sandwiches.

Do you have spiritual beliefs? Yes, but usually only when I'm anxious.

What do you do to relax? Fry meatballs.
