BEAVER ISLAND, Mich. (AP) - Plans are in the works for water trail around Lake Michigan's Beaver Island to highlight stops for camping, beaches, parks and other attractions.
The Petoskey News-Review and MLive.com report the Charlevoix County Board of Commissioners this month approved a resolution supporting a plan to create the trail.
Beaver Island is located about 35 miles northwest of Petoskey. The plans come as Michigan officials work on a formal statewide water trail program.
