Retirement reception slated for federal judge

Patrick J. Duggan, a U.S. District Court judge since 1987, will be saluted at a retirement reception on Friday, Sept. 25, from 2-4 p.m. in Room 115 of the Theodore Levin Courthouse in downtown Detroit.

Duggan, a former Wayne County Circuit Court judge, plans to retire from the federal bench at the end of September following a 56-year career in the law. The reception will take place from 2-4 p.m. on September 25.

A 1955 graduate of Xavier University, Duggan earned his law degree from the University of Detroit in 1958. He practiced law in Livonia from 1959-76 before being appointed to the Wayne County bench in 1976 by then-Governor William Milliken. He served 10 years as a Wayne County judge, and is a past president of the Livonia Bar Association, the Michigan Jaycees, the Livonia Chamber of Commerce, and the American Inn of Court at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
