DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit man convicted of armed robbery in connection with the slaying of a 23-year-old French street artist is scheduled to stand trial for a second time on a murder charge later this year.
A hung jury led a Wayne County Circuit judge to declare a mistrial last Monday for 18-year-old Dionte Travis. A new trial date on felony murder and gun charges was set last Thursday for Nov. 30. He's scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 30 on the armed robbery charge.
Bilal Berreni was found dead with a gunshot wound to the face in July 2013.
Drequone Rich and Jasin Curtis have both pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Berreni's death. Another suspect who was 13 at the time of the killing faces trial later this year.
