ROCHESTER HILLS (AP) - A $2 million student-managed investment fund is part of a new course at Oakland University that's designed to teach the essentials of portfolio management, stock selection and portfolio evaluation.
The fund has been carved out of The Kresge Foundation's $3.5 billion investment portfolio. Those involved say it's intended to provide investment experience to undergraduates while exposing them to career opportunities in investment management.
The school says the business course, Managing Investment Funds, started this semester at Oakland University's main campus. The class led by finance professor Ranadeb Chaudhuri is hosted in the university's data analysis lab, which is equipped with professional financial tools.
