LANSING (AP) - A federal agency is offering disaster loans of up to $2 million to small businesses and nonprofits in Michigan affected by cold weather earlier this year.
The U.S. Small Business Administration announced Wednesday that the loans are available to small businesses, agricultural cooperatives and most private nonprofit organizations that suffered financial losses as a result of excessive snow, frost and low temperatures from Jan. 1 to June 3, 2015.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture issued a disaster declaration for 67 of Michigan's 83 counties, including Kalamazoo, Marquette and Saginaw. Loans will be available to businesses located in areas covered by the disaster declaration.
Applications will be accepted by the U.S. Small Business Administration through June 14, 2016.
