The Criminal Law Committee of the Oakland County Bar Association continued its Anatomy of a Criminal Case—Year XVII brown bag lunch lecture series with a look at “Veterans Court” featuring (left to right) Bloomfield Hills attorney Jack H. Holmes and Mike Schloff of Michael D. Schloff PLLC on Tuesday, October 20, at the Oakland County Bar Center in Bloomfield Hills. “We did a presentation on this in the spring to the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan so we’re going to do this more pointed toward a local focus for the Veterans Treatment Courts in Oakland County,” Holmes said. “It’s kind of a newly emerging area of the law that I think most lawyers don’t know much about, particularly young lawyers, and I think our job today is to try and give them enough information that they can be on the lookout in their practices and maybe some of their clients would benefit from transferring to these Veterans Treatment Courts,” added Schloff. “Jack and I have had a number of years working within Veterans Treatment Courts and we really know firsthand the value that they bring.”
