FLINT (AP) - Prosecutors are seeking federal imprisonment for a central Michigan businessman accused in a $1 million bank fraud scheme and an illegal, large-scale marijuana growing operation.
In a sentencing memorandum filed earlier this month in Flint U.S. District Court, federal prosecutors claim 45-year-old Harry Brink's growing operation was a money-making venture that had its own employees, and not the medical marijuana facility that he tried to depict. They allege he made up to $20,000 per month.
The Flint Journal reports that Brink pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana.
Brink, owner of US Speedo, admitted in January 2013 to conspiring to grow marijuana in a building near the company's facility in Mundy Township.
He's scheduled to be sentenced next Wednesday.
