Jackson County’s Drug Summit II on Heroin and Prescription Drug Abuse, presented by the Jackson Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, will be held 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, at the Dining Commons, George E. Potter Center, Jackson Community College Main Campus, 2111 Emmons Road, Jackson.
Check in begins at 8 a.m.
The event is free and open to the public, and lunch will be provided. Seating is limited to 200.
The summit will focus on the devastating problem of heroin use in the Jackson community and in particular, the connection and relationship between prescription drugs and heroin.
Six sessions will be offered, and will cover the following areas: Family Impact, Medical Overview, Law Enforcement, and Treatment & Recovery. Each will feature experts who will share their experience and knowledge and be available to answer questions.
The goal is to create public awareness and serve as a call to action for a coordinated and aggressive county wide response to fight this serious drug issue that is causing death, destruction, and crime.
