WASHINGTON (AP) — Opponents of an ongoing Native Hawaiian election are asking the Supreme Court to block votes from being counted.
An emergency request filed with the court on Tuesday argues that Hawaiian residents who are not Native Hawaiians are being excluded from the vote, in violation of their constitutional rights.
The request was filed with Justice Anthony Kennedy, who can act on his own or get his colleagues involved.
