The New Lawyers Committee (NLC) of the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) and the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the State Bar of Michigan presented Novemberfest—A Night to Support Pro Bono Month on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Detroit Zoo’s Ford Education Center. This networking social event, sponsored by Stout Risius Ross, raised funds to benefit Lakeshore Legal’s Aid Counsel and Advocacy Law Line (CALL). Among those helping to support CALL were (left to right) William Knight, Rodney Johnson, James Martone, Laura Kubit, Jacob Cunningham, YLS Secretary Syeda Davidson, OCBA President David Carl Anderson, NLC Chair Victoria King, Jeffrey Kaplan, Jihan Williams, Jonathan Martone, Tanya Cripps, Nadine Hatten, and Samantha Orvis. CALL is a division of Lakeshore Legal Aid which began operating in 1997. It works in partnership with Legal Services of Northern Michigan, Legal Services of South Central Michigan, and Legal Services of Western Michigan. CALL offers an attorney-staffed telephone advice, brief service, pro se, and referral system serving low income and senior people throughout much of Michigan.
