Drug Summit quarterly meeting set for Jan. 21

The first quarterly meeting following the recent Drug Summit II will be held Jan. 21 in the Community Room on the second floor of the Allegiance Specialty Center, 1201 E. Michigan Ave. in Jackson.

Work groups will focus on the problem of heroin use in the community and in particular, the connection and relationship between prescription drugs and heroin.

In each work group, community members and experts will work together to create and accomplish goals throughout the coming year.

Work groups include Law Enforcement from 2 to 3 p.m.; Prevention from 3 to 4 p.m.; Family Impact from 4 to 5 p.m.; Treatment/ Recovery from 5 to 6 p.m.; and Medical from 6 to 7 p.m. Experts will share their experience and knowledge, and be available to answer questions.

The goal of the quarterly meetings is to create public awareness, and serve as a call to action to the community for a coordinated and aggressive county wide response to fight this drug issue which is causing death, destruction, and crime.
