On Thursday, March 17, at the 9:30 a.m. board meeting, Oakland County Commissioner Marcia Gershenson along with Commissioner Bob Hoffman and members of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners will announce the “Oakland County Cares 4 Flint Employee Donation Drive.”
Gershenson has spearheaded the county donation drive and is proud of the bi-partisan effort.
“We are hoping our employees will contribute to the cause by donating anti-bacterial wipes and soap, 3-in-1 leave-in-shampoo, hand sanitizers, Vaseline and waterless baby food and formula. The drive will begin Monday, March 21st-Thursday, March 24th,” she stated. “Some of our employees have ties to the Flint area.”
“The goal of the special ‘Oakland County Cares 4 Flint Employee Donation Drive’ is to collect 4,000 items for Flint residents with the support of our more than 4,800 employees,” stated Hoffman who chairs the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Human Resources Committee.
The “Oakland County Cares for Flint Employee Donation Drive” is sponsored by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners and supported by the Oakland County Health Division, the Oakland County Clerk and Register of Deeds, and the Road Commission for Oakland County.
The board meeting will be held in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Auditorium, located at 1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac.
In addition, Oakland County Board Chairman Michael J. Gingell will present a proclamation to the Citizens Research Council at the March 17, board meeting beginning at 9:30 a.m.
He will recognize the 100th Anniversary of the organization. The Citizens Research Council has provided sound governmental policy through factual research and is noted for providing objective issue analysis with an independent, nonpartisan approach for many controversial issues reflecting every facet of government.
The Citizens Research Council’s president, Eric W. Lupher, will receive the proclamation signed by Gingell and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson on behalf of the organization.
