TRAVERSE CITY (AP) - A Traverse City judge says the city has more work to do on a proposed pair of nine-story buildings amid debate about how they affect the character of the northern Michigan tourist destination.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports Circuit Judge Philip Rodgers last Thursday vacated a permit for the project, sending it back to city commissioners. Commissioners earlier approved the project that includes parking, housing and commercial space.
Rodgers mulled an appeal filed against the city by an attorney on behalf of a resident and advocacy group. They wanted the permit dismissed.
Rodgers says reviewing a special land use permit requires information about impact on infrastructure, facilities and services and other considerations.
Property owner Joseph Sarafa says developers will work with city officials to tackle Rodgers' concerns.
