The Oakland County Bar Association Family Law and Real Estate Law Committees explained the real estate issues involved in any divorce during the seminar “A House Divided” on Thursday, April 28, at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills. Presenters included (left to right) Tobias Lipski of Schneiderman & Sherman PC, Lisa Stern of Hertz Schram and the Law Offices of Lisa Stern, and Dion Roddy of Bowyer and Midtgard PC. The seminar covered common issues in divorce proceedings including who retains ownership of real property after the divorce, the effect of various legal instruments designed to transfer property interests, and the constitutionality of current proposed state legislation regarding dower.  As general counsel for Schneiderman & Sherman PC, Lipski closely tracks Michigan law regarding the transfer of property during divorce.  Stern’s practice focuses on all aspects of family law and the complex issues regarding valuation and division of assets including large marital estates.  Roddy also practices family law, focusing on all real estate issues including dower.
