Devlin K. Scarber, an attorney from Southfield has announced his campaign to run for judge in Oakland County 46th District Court. The 46th District Court encompasses the communities of Southfield, Lathrup Village, Beverly Hills, Franklin Village, Bingham Farms and Southfield Township. A Kickoff Event, open to the public, will be held on Thursday, May 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Beans and Cornbread, 29508 Northwestern Hwy. in Southfield.
“I am very excited about my campaign launch. I have been a Southfield resident for almost 20 years and care so much about the community,” Scarber said. “I bring with me the perspective of a family man, who has proven knowledge of the law. This kickoff event is the start of what I hope will be a very positive and fruitful campaign.”
At the Kickoff Event for Scarber’s campaign, light refreshments will be served and Scarber will address the attendees at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public.
The first African American male to run for this position, Scarber considers his cultural background an asset to his campaign. In a district that includes a large African American demographic, as well as a large family demographic, his campaign stands out amidst the largely female pool of candidates.
Scarber ‘s background includes 14 years’ experience and peer recognition for excellence as a trial attorney with a Southfield law firm, a strong church involvement, multiple positions and volunteer work with legal aid, mental health, and community work.
