LANSING (AP) - A court says six members of the state parole board who were fired by Gov. Rick Snyder in 2011 had no guarantee to the job or compensation.
In a 3-0 decision, the state appeals court says Gov. Rick Snyder had constitutional authority to reorganize the board.
The six, who were appointed by Gov. Jennifer Granholm, said they still had a few years remaining on their contracts when they were dismissed. Snyder had reduced the parole board to 10 members and made other changes.
The board decides if prisoners can go home after serving a minimum sentence.
The appeals court ruling was released Wednesday.
