SOUTHFIELD (AP) - A candlelight vigil is scheduled in Southfield to remember police officers and others slain by gun violence.
The event will be held from 9-10 p.m. on July 24 outside Southfield City Hall, north of Detroit. It is being organized by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Task Force, Inc., and the city of Southfield.
The city says the vigil also will serve as a tribute to the Southfield Police Department for the work officers do in keeping the city "safe and secure."
Southfield held its first Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Walk in 1986.
