Ward & Fifth founder plans Detroit investments

DETROIT (AP) - Ward & Fifth Consulting founder and Chief Executive Shawn Ward has opened a branch of his agency in Detroit and is starting a business to make luxury sporting equipment.
The announcement from the Cass Technical High School and University of Michigan graduate was made Monday at a kickoff event for next month's Detroit Homecoming conference. The office is in the Eastern Market area and the new business is Williamson Goods.
A launch for Williamson Goods is planned for September, with a portion of proceeds going to the Detroit Police Athletic League.
The third-annual Detroit Homecoming event is Sept. 14-16. It's designed to bring investment and reinvestment into Detroit and has been used to convince professionals with Detroit ties about the benefits of taking part in the city's revitalization.
