DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit-area man charged after an undercover police officer found the man's wife shot and duct-taped in a pickup truck on Detroit's east side has been sentenced to prison.
The Detroit News reports Radu Vasile Muntean of Hazel Park learned his punishment Wednesday, including 10 years for assault. He also was convicted of unlawful imprisonment, torture and other charges.
Muntean apologized to his wife before the sentencing. Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Craig Strong says Muntean is "an evil person."
Police say the officer saw the pickup in a field in March and the driver told the officer he was out of gas and showed a fake police badge. The officer noticed a woman in the front seat who'd been beaten and shot in both legs. Muntean was arrested.
