The Cass Tech Alumni Association is planning a Lawyers/Judges Day for Oct. 13. The planning committee met Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the offices of the Legal Aid Defender Association in Detroit. Looking forward to coordinating the event were Lawyers/Judges Day planning committee members (seated, left to right) Veronica Leonard, Ponce Clay, Beth DunCombe, and Larry Patrick; along with (standing, left to right) Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Craig Strong, Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Denise Langford Morris, LAD President and CEO Deierdre Weir, Patricia Battersby, Michael Stevenson, and Regina Thomas. The Oct. 13 event will celebrate the contributions Cass Tech alumni have made to their respective communities in a variety of law-related positions. There will be a panel discussion with current students at 3 p.m. at Cass Tech and a cocktail reception later that evening at 5:30 p.m. at the Detroit Golf Club.
