HOUGHTON LAKE, Mich. (AP) - A golfer who suffered a neck injury while taking a break at a northern Michigan course is stuck in the rough at the state appeals court.
In a 3-0 decision, the court says the hazard at Quest Golf Club in Houghton Lake was open and obvious. It ruled in favor of the club last week.
Steve Ayvazian, who's in his 80s, was taking a break after playing the ninth hole back in 2012. When he emerged from the clubhouse, he tripped on steps and fell into a flower bed.
The appeals court says it's "unfortunate" that Ayvazian didn't notice the steps. But the court says the risks didn't pose an "unreasonable risk" of danger.
