Association to present seminar on impact of Obergefell v. Hodges

The landmark Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges recognizing same sex marriage is already having a dramatic impact in several areas of the law. The Oakland County Bar Association’s Probate Estates and Trusts, Family Court, and Employee Benefits committees will present a panel of experts using an engaging case-history approach to teach attendees how to identify how the Obergefell decision may affect their cases.

“Issue Spotting in a Post-Obergefell World” takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m. at the OCBA offices, 1760 South Telegraph Road, Suite 100, in Bloomfield Hills.

Panelists include Shirley A. Kaigler of Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer, & Weiss; Eric W. Gregory of  Dickinson Wright PLLC; and Richard A. Roane of Warner, Norcross, & Judd, LLP.  They will discuss the common and overlapping issues that occur in estate planning and administration, family law, and employee benefits contexts; how practitioners should advise employers regarding their benefits; and the best advice for same-sex couples in estate and family law matters.

Pre-registration is recommended since seating is limited.  Pre-registration for this lecture ends Monday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m.; however, walk-ins are welcome.  To register, go to www.ocba.org/events.
