Volunteer sought for Community Mental Health Authority

The Oakland County Board of Commissioners is seeking a volunteer to fill one vacant Primary Consumer seat on the Community Mental Health Authority. Interested individuals must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Oakland County. The individual must be a direct consumer of mental health services. The representative selected will serve the remainder of a three-year term, which will end on March 31, 2017. A mileage reimbursement per diem will be provided. The application deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The individual appointed will oversee contracts with service providers and review quarterly financial reports, annual budgets, and requests for new funds. Other duties associated with the Community Mental Health Authority include planning, funding and administering an array of programs for adults and children with serious mental illness, emotional disturbances, and/or developmental disabilities.
