The Pontiac School District hosted the 2017 teacher-student achievement recognition event on May 18 at the Pontiac Dream Center. PSD teachers Sonia Nieske, Gregory Spencer, Elizabeth Voultos and Shayla Scott were recognized with the June Fieger Teacher Incentive Award for innovation and professional excellence. The district-wide awards, which carry a $2,000 prize, were presented by Fieger Law and the Pontiac Alumni Foundation. The late Mrs. Fieger had a long and distinguished career as a teacher and union organizer in Michigan. Pictured at the event were (left to right) Kelly Williams, superintendent of Pontiac Schools; prominent trial attorney Geoffrey Fieger; and retired Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Fred Mester, president of the Pontiac Alumni Foundation.
