County Health Division encourages HIV tests on National HIV Testing Day

Oakland County Health Division encourages residents to get an HIV test on today, June 27, in observance of National HIV Testing Day. Tests will be offered at both Health Division locations, Southfield and Pontiac, anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

National HIV Testing Day is an annual campaign to raise awareness about the importance of HIV testing and early diagnosis. This day is designed to motivate everyone to get tested, know their status, and get linked to care and treatment services. Those aware of their status can take steps to protect others and live longer, healthier lives with early treatment and care. For additional information, visit https://www.cdc.gov/features/hivtesting/index.html.

The Health Division's HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Program provides confidential counseling and testing, referral services, and education. Rapid HIV testing is also available with same-day results. In addition, the HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Program offers the free Linkage to Care Program that connects people living with HIV to medical care and helps the newly diagnosed receive support.

HIV testing is available at Health Division offices in Pontiac and Southfield:

- North Oakland Health Center, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Building 34E, Pontiac

- South Oakland Health Center, 27725 Greenfield Road, Southfield.
