Potestivo & Associates PC is pleased to announce the hiring of Katie Jory who will serve in the Landlord/Tenant division of its Litigation Department located in downtown Rochester.
Jory graduated from the University of Michigan, where she majored in Political Science. Jory then went on to earn her law degree at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2009.
Prior to her position with Potestivo & Associates PC, Jory worked as an associate attorney specializing in Landlord/Tenant law representing landlords, business owners, creditors, and municipalities with civil legal needs. Following law school, her legal career began in Columbus, Ohio, where she represented defendants in criminal cases at the juvenile and felony levels, as well as parents and juveniles in cases involving abuse, neglect, and dependency, while serving as Guardian Ad Litem.
Potestivo & Associates PC is also proud to announce that Richard Miller has joined the firm to serve as the new director of finance. Miller has more than 30 years of experience working in the banking sector. He possesses expertise in all areas of finance; primarily having worked in accounting and regulatory reporting. He is a graduate of the American Bankers Association National School of Investments and has also worked in additional roles from lending to branches and operations.
Prior to joining the firm, Miller most recently served as the chief financial officer for a local financial credit union. He has held previous positions as a chief accounting officer, chief financial officer, senior financial consultant, and chief operating officer. In some of his most notable roles to date, he was the incorporator and founding director for two brand new community banks located out of Southeast Michigan. He also spent time as a consultant assisting in the startup of several more new community banks in both Michigan and Ohio.

Dawda, Mann, Mulcahy, & Sadler PLC sponsored the Third Judicial Court and Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association's 2017 Law Day Program and had two associates, Nina Abboud and Ryan Olson, attend as attorney volunteers to mentor high school students. Managing Member Ed Dawda made the announcement.
Dawda Mann's contributions assisted in allowing the program to educate nearly 300 students from 13 Detroit public, private and charter high schools on the legal system and opportunities that exist in the legal profession and the court system. Abboud and Olson coached their respective team of high school students, working with them to prepare oral arguments and presentations, in which they then presented at the end of the day to the judges of the Wayne County bench.
Prior to the event, students were given the opportunity to participate in an essay contest where they were asked to argue whether a public high school is in violation of the First Amendment if it disciplines its students for off-campus bullying of other students via social media.
Law Day is a nationwide celebration of the rule of law, in recognition of how law and the legal process contribute to the freedoms that all Americans share. In total, the event had 20 sponsors, as well as volunteers, teachers, Third Judicial Circuit Court Judges and staff and leadership from the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association.

In addition, he is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and was a director in 1981. He is a Master of Bench emeritus, American Inn of Court Ch. XI. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Michigan State Bar Foundation.
DuMouchel is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and serves as a member of the Criminal Procedure Committee, and is a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers.
In 2012, DuMouchel was appointed as the 6th Circuit representative to the Practitioners' Advisory Group to the U.S. Sentencing Commission. He was re-appointed in 2014.

Secrest Wardle welcomes four new associate attorneys to its Troy location
Aleasha L. Hester is an associate attorney in the firm's Troy office. She joined Secrest Wardle in 2017 and is a member of the Motor Vehicle Litigation and Premises Liability Practice Groups. Hester has experience litigating business law, estate planning, and motor vehicle matters.
Hester obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration, triple majoring in marketing, advertising, and management, from Northwood University in 2006. She earned her law degree with a business transactions concentration from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2016. Hester also earned her General Civil Mediation Training Certificate from Oakland Mediation Center in 2014, allowing her to mediate general civil matters.
Rebecca M. McLaughlin joins the firm's Troy location as an associate attorney. McLaughlin is a member of Secrest Wardle's Motor Vehicle Litigation Practice Group. She has additional experience in medical malpractice defense, family law, and elder law matters.
McLaughlin earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Spanish from Kalamazoo College. She earned her law degree from Wayne State University Law School. McLaughlin is licensed to practice law in Michigan. She was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 2015.
Amber C. Rouse is an associate attorney located in the firm's Troy office. Rouse joined Secrest Wardle in 2017 and is a member of the firm's Motor Vehicle Litigation Practice Group.
