County commissioner invited back to White House to discuss infrastructure

The White House recently invited Oakland County Commissioner Adam Kochenderfer to return to Washington, D.C. to discuss the federal government's infrastructure plan and its impact on Michigan. It was the second invitation the White House extended in a month. The first invitation included all county commissioners in Michigan. Kochenderfer attended the first meeting on August 8 and met with representatives from over 14 federal departments. However, he was surprised to receive a phone call on the White House two weeks later requesting that he return on August 30 to address an infrastructure bill the administration was formulating. Kochenderfer met with Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, OMB Director Mick Mulvaney, and others in the administration to discuss critical infrastructure needs and potential solutions. He specifically brought up issues Oakland County is facing, including ways to leverage more funding for road improvements and rewarding county governments for efficient project management. "While Oakland County has roared back from the Great Recession, infrastructure needs persist here and across Michigan," Kochenderfer said.
