Chief Judge Grant honored

Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Nanci Grant (right) was presented with the Sergeant Clyde J. Willis Warrior Award by the Warriors Trust Fund at its 3rd Annual Golf Benefit on Monday, Sept. 11, at Glenn Oaks in Farmington Hills. This award was given in recognition and honor of her contributions and commitment to the Oakland County Combat Veterans Treatment Court. The first of its kind in Michigan, the Combat Veterans Treatment Court was created in 2013 by Grant as a way to help combat veterans who placed themselves in harm’s way to protect the nation’s freedoms and later, as an effect of their service, found themselves in the legal system after being honorably discharged. “Judge Grant’s leadership and guidance has made the journey to help save our combat veterans easier,” stated Marseille Allen, president of the Warriors Trust Fund. “I could not have asked for a better teammate.” Also honored at the Sept. 11 event was Michigan Department of Corrections Probation Agent Denise Reeves-Cook (left). Warriors Trust Fund board member Clyde Willis (center) was happy to congratulate both honorees. The mission of the Warriors Trust Fund is to provide emergency funding and lifestyle support to and on behalf of military veterans who have honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces and National Guard.
