Federal Bar Association to present Rom Award, Rakow Scholarships

The annual joint luncheon of the Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, and the Historical Society of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will be hosted Tuesday, Nov. 14, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Historic Westin Book Cadillac Hotel on Washington Blvd in downtown Detroit.

The program will feature:

• Presentation of the Federal Bar Foundation’s annual Rakow Scholarship Awards to students from each of Michigan’s law schools.

• The Annual Barbara Rom Award for Bankruptcy Excellence.

• A very special Historical Society program featuring speaker Danielle McGuire who is an award-winning historian and author of “At the Dark End of the Street: Black Women, Rape and
Resistance-a New History of the Civil Rights Movement from Rosa Parks to the Rise of Black Power.” She serves as a historical consultant for film, television and museums and has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, PBS, National Public Radio, BookTV, CSPAN and dozens of local radio stations throughout the United States and Canada.
