The Council on Legal Education Opportunity, Inc. (CLEO), the longest-serving national organization committed to diversity in the legal profession, is launching an online networking platform in conjunction with its historic 50th Anniversary celebrations. Called CLEO Alumni and Friends Connection, the website—https://cleoconnection.com—will connect thousands of CLEO alumni, students, and friends to jobs, mentors, and networking opportunities.
“Our focus has always been the student, the participant of our programs,” declared Cassandra Sneed Ogden, chief executive officer.
“We are excited to have the flexibility to meet our alumni needs and help them remain connected.”
Celebrating the theme, “The CLEO EDGE: 50 Years of Championing Education, Diversity, and Greater Equality in the Legal Profession,” CLEO will salute its history with a gala reception in Washington, D.C., on November 15, 2018; and regional receptions centered on the key pillars of the CLEO mission: the “Education” Reception (Houston, TX, April 26, 2018); the “Diversity” Reception (San Francisco, CA, June 5, 2018); and the “Greater Equality” Reception (New York, NY, September 12, 2018).
Later this month, the CLEO EDGE 50 for 50 Award will be unveiled with CLEO’s “Call for Nominations” to recognize and honor 150
individuals and entities that have made significant accomplishments to Education, Diversity, and Greater Equality in the legal profession.
During this milestone, CLEO will, again, host its Summer Seminars Series. The programs, held from mid-June through early August, include the Pre-Law Summer Institute, 1L Prep – Attitude Is Essential (AIE), AIE Online, and Achieving Success in the Application Process. For college students and post-graduates, CLEO will continue to offer the College Scholars Program - a free pre-law workshop - hosted by our partner law schools in select U.S. cities. Finally, the CLEO Connection, a monthly pre-law seminar series in Washington, DC, will continue through April 2018. Both programs guide students on their “road to law school” to help ensure their eventual success.
