Western Michigan University Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills campus held its Honors Convocation Nov. 16, acknowledging students who exemplify outstanding academic achievement, leadership, professionalism and character. Students were recognized for their leadership roles with various student organizations, top course grades and for being named to the Dean’s List or Honor Roll.

The Leadership Achievement Award, which acknowledges students who have consistently, comprehensively and effectively provided leadership in a variety of capacities, was presented by Ieisha Humphrey, WMU-Cooley Law School’s enrollment and academic services coordinator. This term, there were two recipients: Jamia Davis and Alysha Warren.

“In so many ways, we rely on the legal profession to provide our society’s leaders. At WMU-Cooley we take this responsibility very seriously. You can see by the awards given today that we have many students who have stepped forward to assume positions of leadership to prepare them for the future,” Humphrey said while presenting the awards.

Shari Lesnick, career and professional development coordinator at WMU-Cooley, presented the Alumni Distinguished Student Award to I. Eric Nordan. The award is presented to graduating seniors who are nominated by their faculty or peers, and then interviewed and selected by the WMU-Cooley Law School Alumni Association Executive Committee.

“It is my great honor to present the Alumni Distinguished Student Award this evening,” Lesnick said. “Awarded three times a year since 1980, this award seeks to honor those students who have truly distinguished themselves throughout their law school career.”
