The Federal Bar Association, Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, will present “The Art of Pleading: Civil Rights and Employment Law after Iqbal” on Friday, March 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Detroit Room of the Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse, 231 W. Lafayette Blvd. in Detroit.
This interactive session for practitioners of all experience levels examines what it takes to survive a motion to dismiss under the federal pleading standards established in Ashcroft v. Iqbal (2009) and Bell Atlantic v. Twombley (2007) with a focus on civil rights and employment discrimination lawsuits. Attendees will learn from the experts what really counts as “plausible” these days.
Featured speakers are U.S. District Court Judge Judith E. Levy and Prof. Alexander A. Reinart of the Center for Civil Rights and Justice of the Cardozo Law School in New York.
This is a free event; however, donations will be accepted. Attendees should register online by March 15 at www.fbamich.org. After that date, email fbamich@fbamich.org to ensure there is room since a large crowd is expected.
