Expungement clinic offered in Southfield

The D. Augustus Straker Bar Association will participate in an expungement clinic on Friday, April 6, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Southfield Public Library Auditorium, 26300 Evergreen Road. “From Expungement to Entrepreneurship: The Pipeline to Possibilities” will be sponsored by Southfield Human Services, Lakeshore Legal Aid, D. Augustus Straker Bar Association, and the University of Michigan Law School Entrepreneurship Clinic.

In addition to the clinic, which is for low income residents of Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties with State of Michigan convictions only, a free entrepreneur legal workshop will also be offered.  For anyone wanting to start a small business, the entrepreneur workshop will look at:

• How to set up an LLC, Corporation, etc.
• How to handle employee matters.
• How to trademark your logo and protect your ideas.
• When to draft contracts and financial documents.

For additional information, call Southfield Human Services at 248-796-4542.
