The Oakland County Bar Association's Employment Law Committee will present “Employment Law Year In Review 2018,” an in-depth overview of legal trends and developments in labor and employment areas. The program will take place Tuesday, June 12, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills.
A panel of experts will highlight significant legal developments in labor and employment law from the past year and provide insight into upcoming trends. Speakers include Kaitlin A. Brown of Maddin, Hauser, Roth, & Heller PC; Gary S. Fealk of The Murray Law Group PC; Jay D. Kaplan of ACLU of Michigan; James M. Reid IV of Maddin Hauser; and Joey S. Niskar of The Niskar Law Firm PLLC. Syeda F. Davidson, of Burgess, Sharp, & Golder Law Office PLLC, will moderate.
Topics of discussion this year will cover:
• Who is a joint employer?
• Developments in LGBT law in the workplace.
• Trends associated with the #metoo movement.
• New considerations for settlement agreements.
• Is working from home a reasonable accommodation?
Pre-registration costs are $40 for OCBA members, $30 for OCBA new lawyers (P74739) and paralegals, and $60 for all non-members. Cost at the door is $65 for OCBA members and $90 for all non-members.
