Dickinson Wright PLLC, KPMG LLP, The CFO Leadership Council, and the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber will host its 1st Annual Federal Enforcement Update in the Age of Cybersecurity, a complementary two-hour forum, on Thursday, May 24, at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
“Inside the Cauldron: Government, Criminal & Civil Enforcement, Compliance & Cybersecurity Hot Topics 2018” features the district’s former acting United States attorney as moderator, engaging the chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the panel of national experts on a range of topics that are front of mind for business leaders. The topics include federal and international enforcement policies, priorities, trends and interpretations, their direct impact on public and privately held Michigan companies, individual culpability, compliance and cybersecurity, and data privacy.
“Corporate leaders frequently find themselves facing regulatory and criminal investigations and charges because they do not appreciate fully the complex and ever-changing enforcement landscape. We created this event for Michigan companies to hear first-hand what are the Justice Department’s, SEC’s and other regulators’ current enforcement priorities impacting C-suites and gain insight into fast-moving issues in the age of cybersecurity,” said Jacob Frenkel, chair of Dickinson Wright’s Government Investigations and Securities Enforcement Practice. “We have assembled a panel of distinguished experts to engage a candid dialogue examining these issues from the government, defense and in-house compliance perspectives and to share strategies for cybersecurity and data privacy breach responses and protocols.”
Speaking at the program will be:
• Dan Lemisch – general counsel, Lakeview Capital and former acting U.S. attorney (moderator).
• Mark Chutkow – Criminal Division chief, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Michigan.
• Jacob Frenkel – chair, Government Investigations & Securities Enforcement Practice, Dickinson Wright PLLC.
• Daniel Click – managing director, Risk Strategy & Compliance, KPMG.
• Seth Edgar – chief information security officer, Michigan State University.
• Chris Miller – regional compliance officer, Global Ethics & Compliance Center, General Motors legal staff.
The program takes place Thursday, May 24, from 8 to 11 a.m. at The Townsend Hotel, 100 Townsend Street in Birmingham.
