Attorney Cara M. Rumsey has joined the East Lansing firm of Willingham & Coté P.C., where she is a member of the Litigation and Insurance practice group.
Prior to joining the firm, Rumsey worked as a judicial law clerk for the judges of the Ninth Circuit Court for the County of Kalamazoo. In this capacity, she advised the judges on both civil and criminal motions pending before the Court and drafted legal orders and opinions.
A member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Ingham County Bar Association, Rumsey represents insurance companies by defending against disputed policyholders claims. Primarily, her defense involves first-party No-fault Insurance personal injury protection (PIP) benefits.
She received her undergraduate degree in neuroscience from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctorate from the University Of Toledo College Of Law, where she earned a Certificate of Concentration in Health Law; served as an articles editor for the Law Review; was vice president of the Health Law Society; and was a member of the Business Law Society, and of the Student Bar Association.
