Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel last Thursday moved to withdraw Michigan from an environmental case involving an investigation by public officials about possible consumer fraud that had the state siding with ExxonMobil. In the case ExxonMobil v Healey (Second Circuit Court 18-1170), Exxon has attempted to block investigations into its climate-change-related disclosures.
"The safety of our air and water and the deep concerns with climate change are compelling reasons for us to withdraw from this case," said Nessel. "ExxonMobil has tried to withhold information from public officials and we simply can't support their position."
