The Macomb County Probate Court is relocating to the county courthouse in downtown Mount Clemens this coming week.
Probate Judges Kathryn George and Sandra Harrison will move to new permanent chambers on the fifth floor of the courthouse located at 40 N. Main St.
All other probate court functions, including check-in, registers, attorneys and administration will also be moving to the fifth floor.
During the week of the move, cases will be heard at the old location at 21850 Dunham location on Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7.
There will be no regular docket for probate court on May 8, 9, and 10, but emergency matters will be heard these days at 40 N. Main.
Full probate court operations will resume at the county courthouse on Monday, May 13.
The move represents the final phase of a multi-year, $74 million campus renovation project aimed at consolidating court operations and improving services.
"The court's downtown campus renovation - including the relocation of the probate court - was set in motion many years ago by my predecessors," said Chief Judge James M. Biernat Jr., "and we are finally seeing the conclusion of this lengthy process.
"I want to extend a warm welcome to the probate court judges and staff, and to all of the attorneys and members of the public who visit or have business with the probate court."
In announcing the move, court officials noted there were several options for parking at the county courthouse.
Parking was free at the courthouse on Dunham, about two miles from the county courthouse.
A parking structure is adjacent to and on the south side of the Administration Building. The structure is south of Cass Ave., between northbound Gratiot Ave. and S. Main St., and costs $1 per hour to park.
There are multiple disability parking spots available in the parking structure. Additionally, metered street parking, including disability parking, is available in front of the Old County Building and county courthouse. Metered, municipal lots are also located nearby.
To make metered parking more convenient, the ParkMobile app is available at circuitcourt.macombgov.org/CircuitCourt-ParkMobileApp.
Court officials said the court administration should be contacted at 586-469-7172 if specific accommodations are needed.
