Oakland County Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub has been appointed to the Board of the National Association of Counties (NACo). Taub was also reappointed as chair of the Arts and Culture Commission and vice chair of the Human Services and Education Steering Committee. The appointments were announced during NACo’s 84th Annual Conference in Clark County, Nevada last week.
The NACo Arts and Culture Commission works to help ensure that counties invest in art, aesthetics and cultural heritage, and that local leaders understand that the arts are an important avenue for encouraging economic development and solving problems in every community. The commission hosts a variety of workshops and field trips to demonstrate how county officials can use the Arts to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
The NACo Human Services and Education Steering Committee addresses all matters pertaining to children’s issues, foster care, public assistance and income support, services to senior citizens and individuals with disabilities, immigration policy, social services, and elementary, secondary and post-secondary education.
“I am honored to have been reappointed to these leadership roles,” said Taub. “I look forward to building on the work that we’ve already accomplished and continuing to address important issues that impact all of us.”
“Commissioner Taub has a wealth of experience and expertise,” said Mary Ann Borgeson, who was recently sworn in as president of NACo. “Her leadership will be invaluable as we work toward helping to create healthy, safe and vibrant counties across the country.”
Taub represents the 12th county commission district, which includes the cities of Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills, and the majority of Bloomfield Township. She can be contacted by phone at 248-420-8870 or via email to shelleytaub@comcast.net.
