DETROIT (AP) - A former demolition company executive has been sentenced as part of a federal probe into corruption in Detroit's home demolition program.
The U.S. Attorney's office in Detroit says 62-year-old Anthony Daguanno was given 12 months in federal prison as part of his guilty plea to conspiracy to commit honest services fraud.
Daguanno is accused of taking bribes and kickbacks from a subcontractor while he worked as a senior estimator for Adamo Group.
Authorities say a contractor paid Daguanno for disclosing confidential information about bids from its competitors. The contractor then was able to submit a lower bid for the work. Daguanno is accused of accepting more than $372,000 in bribes and kickbacks on 71 occasions over eight years.
He also was ordered Tuesday to forfeit the money he received.
